Her Biography
Anne Frank was a Jewish girl (1929-1945), who with her parent traveled to the Netherlands from Germany because of the aggressive rule by the Nazi German government on the Jewish population.Anne Frank was born Annelies Marie Frank on June 1929,in Frankfurt, Germany to Edith Frank and Otto Frank a progressive businessman. She lived most of her life in Amsterdam, NetherlandsAuschwitzeptember 1939, the Nazi Germany invaded Poland and the start of second world war in Europe and Hitler's quest to eliminate the Jews. On May of the next year, Germans invaded Netherlands and quickly made life miserable for the Jewish people there. In 1942 when the tension was too much in Netherlands land over the killing of Jews, the Frank's family when into hiding in an attic in their apartment behind Otto Frank's business, located at Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. Other of their employees who were Jews also join them in the secret room (also called secret annex), The group lived in constant fear of being seen, heard or even discovered. To keep herself (Anne) busy she would be observant and taking note of their feelings in a diary she got as a birthday present when she clocked 13. Anne wrote about in her diary about life in hiding and impressions of the other in the secret annex. Anne also wrote about her relationship with her sister 'Margot' and their mother , the families experiences and wishes.
On August 1944, Gestapo (German secret police) stormed the is secret Annex and arrested everybody. They have been betrayed by someone who is still unknown till today.At first there were taken to Westerbork, a concentration camp still in Netherlands, on September 1944 they were transported to Auschwitz death camp in Poland. Men and women were separated there and the Frank sisters were taken to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany.
At Bergen-Belsen, due to the bad condition of living the Frank sisters came down with typhus and died sometime in March 1945. Otto Frank was the only survival of the group.when Otto returned to Amsterdam he found Anne's diary which was saved by Miep Gies(Frank's coworker). Otto published the diary as a book "Secret Annex".
The book was later republished as " The Diary of a Young girl", typically in English by the US publishers and has also been published in many different languages. The book remains the most moving account of Jewish feelings in the Holocaust.
