HOW TO IDENTIFY AN ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMME

Criterias that qualify a programme as adult education are as follow:

1. The activities must be purposeful
2. The purpose must be educational
3. The activities must be relatively organized
4. The targeted audience must be the adult citizens or group
5. It must be need based
6. It is carried out voluntarily without any compulsion on the path of the learners
7. It is often carried out as part-time or leisure time activities
8. It is flexible in terms of content and time

Any form of education that satisfy the above criteria qualify as adult education. It can be basic literacy, remedial education, functional literacy, continue education, vocational education, etc.
